Let’s learn a little more about castor oil and why you should love it as much as I do.

What is castor oil? Castor oil is a plant-derived oil that is created from the seeds of the castor bean plant. Castor oil is a beneficial plant extract that can be used as a laxative. It also has other health and beauty benefits including clearing acne and hydrating dry hair.  Castor oil that is 100 percent pure will be virtually tasteless, and will also have no odor, click here for source.

Benefits of Castor Oil on skin and hair – Castor oil is rich in healthy omega oils that will provide nourishment to the hair and scalp. Regular treatment can regenerate hair growth and plump up thin hair if used regularly for several months. The castor oil should be massaged into the scalp and roots of the hair. Castor oil will also promote healthy, soft and shiny hair. Simply massage a small amount into the hair before you brush your hair. Castor oil can also thicken thin eyelashes and eyebrows, click here for source

Nutritional Castor Oil Hair Benefits  Castor oil hair benefits are better than almost any other oil because of the molecular make up.  Although thick to the touch, it’s able to penetrate deeply beyond the surface layers of the skin.  This is important to the scalp, because follicles and roots are buried deeply beneath the surface of the skin and are difficult to deliver nutrients directly to.  Castor oil has the ability to go down deep and deliver key nutrients directly to the areas that need them. It is also the oil that is best placed to attack fungal and harmful microorganisms that cause dandruff and early hair loss and also the chemicals that are deposited on your scalp during a relax or hair dye.

I also picked up a handy tip, oils share a variety of compounds that are all healthy for a particular part of the body.  One thing that a lot of people do is mix olive oil and castor oil together for the hair.  The hair benefits of a mixture of oils can be even greater than a single oil by itself.

So my regime will be the same, and I’ll apply castor oil weekly to my scalp on my wash day. 1/2 castor 1/2 olive oil, just to maintain the health of my scalp and nourish it and counter the effects of the harsh relaxer chemicals.
